“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him…” – 1 John 4:9 (NIV)
The devil tries to make people believe that God doesn’t love them. We see this right from the beginning in the Garden of Eden when he sowed doubts about God’s love in Eve’s heart. He persuaded her that the Creator would withhold something from people if He didn’t allow them to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3).
This lie of the devil was exposed about 2,000 years ago. At that time, God sent His only Son to earth as a Saviour for us, His lost people. The Son of God became man in order to die on the cross for those who had rebelled and sinned against their Creator. Instead of punishment, God gave His beloved Son to die for us. He did it because He loves people and doesn’t want us to be eternally lost.
That is why God, in His love, offers His grace to all people. He invites us to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, Who laid down His life to set us free from guilt. Because He loves people, He shows us through the Gospel how we can turn to Him and align our lives with Him.
How do we respond to the love of God that is personally demonstrated to us today? Do we accept the offer of Salvation to receive eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus and to become children of God? If we do so, He assures us that nothing and no one can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Come and experience this love today.
